I’ve changed my ‘avatar’ to something of myself, however small, a ‘thumbnail’, and a pea pod shell… says something about how I think of myself in the grand scale of things. I may be small, but I make my presence known if I can. I’ll grow wild if you let me.

Malfuncionee, oi portugo, this sucks:
My computer has gone comatose twice this morning. I may be reduced to using my mini. That’s going to slow me down considerably, and reduce the size of files I can edit. Bear with me if I don’t get to see much of your posts, or pay attention to them. Just imagine that I ‘liked’ most all of them. You’re a great group of followers, (and followees), and I don’t want y’all to think I don’t care…I do, immensely.

Domesticity:
I didn’t just hike and take photographs today, I actually accomplished some things around the house… domestic things, I mean. One thing I’ve been doing regularly lately is ‘hand’ watering the lawn in the back yard. It’s somewhat time consuming, but for some reason doing that, and washing dishes are two chores I find rather cathartic.
While I watered the back lawn, a robin decided to cool himself off in the shower I was providing him. He spent nearly a half hour following my spray back and forth, getting himself a really good shower. He didn’t even hesitate when I was spraying right next to my feet. His friendly manner and bravery left a smile on my face that lasted for hours.

Well Hell
Now I’m blubbering…. listening to the Swon Brothers on the voice do “Danny’s Song” (Kenny Loggins). It was a favorite of both mine, and my wife’s.
That performance was ‘nut on’.

I take pictures, and write stories.
The pictures I take today are digital, though I have done analogue in the past, and probably will again at some time. For now the digital are more practical for my works. I want only to produce images that please myself, and I use every format to achieve this end. There’s a lot of editing, and manipulation im my work, including some ‘cartooning’ algorithms. When I use automated programs, I choose the images as I take them, pre-edit them to get what I want out of the automated software, and edit again to ‘tweak’ the image. I found it best to control the image I insert into the algorithm, from the composition to exposure, processing, and effects, to get more from the final image than the software was intended to offer. The photographs I take, as they appear directly from my camera, I can only describe as ‘muddy’. I choose exposures and ISO to achieve this, as the horrid looking image that is produced with this technique holds much more information to work with in processing than an ideal image obtained by ‘proper’ exposure settings on my camera. It’s a technique I learned in college, called the ‘zone’ method’ that I used for black and white analogue photography, and it works well in digital as well. The ‘auto’ setting on my camera is only used for rapidly changing light conditions, or action photos, where the camera can adjust much faster than I can. I try not to over ‘photo shop’ my pics by adding celebs, Patching in odd images, or over thinking the subject.
Most of my subjects are inanimate, with the exception of self portraits, or random strangers that may never see the images. I find I receive no complaints when they are less than complimentary presentations than the subject hoped for in this way.
I’m not doing this professionally, or for approval from anyone but myself, and solely for my own entertainment and enjoyment, I do like getting feedback, be it negative, or positive, and I find helpful criticism an interesting aid to my learning process. I am forever learning.
